After closing on its $10 million purchase of the erstwhile Crozer-Chester Medical Center, the hospital’s new owner said it wants to bring back some core healthcare services to the campus in Upland.

Chariot Equities, in partnership with Allaire Health Services, completed the acquisition of the 64-acre campus on Jan. 21, according to news reports. Allaire is a for-profit operator of nursing homes based in New Jersey and Chariot is a newly formed healthcare real estate investment and development firm.

Crozer-Chester Medical Center closed last May following the bankruptcy filing of its then-owner, Prospect Medical Holdings. Chariot reportedly said it expected within six months to reach a deal with a health system to operate a “right-sized” hospital and emergency department at the former Crozer-Chester facilities.

In a recent news release about the Crozer-Chester sale, state Rep. Leanne Krueger, a Democrat representing Delaware County, also offered an update on the fate of the former Taylor hospital.

Krueger said she learned on Jan. 23 that “after the initial bidder on Springfield Hospital failed to close on the sale of that property, Prospect Medical Holdings is now in the process of selling Springfield Hospital to KQT Aikens Partners.” That is the same local investor group that previously purchased Taylor Hospital last September, and it is currently seeking a nonprofit healthcare operator to reopen services there, she said.

The Upper Darby School District, which purchased another former Prospect-owned hospital, recently hired an architecture firm to decide what it will do with the Delaware County Memorial Hospital site.
