There’s a new kid on the block, and with a remodeled look and increased accessibility, it’s got plenty of bells and whistles to show off. Today marks the official opening of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s (SEPTA) new Ardmore train station.

As part of a 12-year capital investment program, SEPTA has focused on Ardmore Station specifically to bring more access to the community.

“Ardmore Station is being rebuilt as part of the Station Accessibility Program – making it accessible to people with disabilities and easier to ride for seniors, small children and their families, and anyone who needs a little more help to get where they are going,” said a post to the SEPTA website in July 2025.

While service on the Paoli/Thorndale Line was not impacted during the construction, the station will now be open and fully functional. It will be accompanied by businesses serving travelers for a variety of needs.

The new station is opposite an Ardmore Station Cafe, open for both breakfast and lunch, Tuesday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. An Ardmore Grooming Station, a full service pet salon for dogs and cats, will also be located across from the newly opened station. DePaul’s Table, at the corner of Station Avenue, is described as “steps from Ardmore Station,” offering a full steakhouse menu.

“This long-awaited project completion is great news,” said an email release from Lower Merion Township. “More information on a ribbon cutting will be announced at a later date.”
