The holiday season is a wonderful time to give. Students at Rose Tree Media School District’s Rose Tree Elementary School got into the spirit with their Husky Helping Hands Project.

Students were assigned particular items to donate, while also welcomed to bring in anything families wanted to share. The school’s community then helped to create gift bags for children in need.

The completed projects went to the children living in the Community Action Agency of Delaware County (CAADC) shelters. CAADC is a leading provider of social services in Delaware County, especially for homeless families.  With many children in CAADC’s emergency shelters and transitional housing/rapid re-housing programs, leadership at CAADC said that the need for community help this year is greater than ever.

Edward T. Coleman, Chief Executive Officer of CAADC, said it is crucial for the community to give back, as the agency relies on the kindness of others.

“We really depend on the community to help make the holidays a special time for these children who are already going through so much,” said Coleman.

If you are interested in giving back like the students at Rose Tree Elementary, there are many ways that the community can help including:

  • Adopting a “child” or “family” – please contact Danita Miller at 610-874-8451 or [email protected] if interested
  • Taking new unwrapped toys to CAADC’s Boothwyn Office located at 1414 Meetinghouse Road, in Boothwyn, PA 19061 (Please call 610-874-8451 before coming).
  • Mailing or dropping off gift cards to the Boothwyn Office (address above).
  • Sending a monetary donation to the Boothwyn Office (address above).
  • Making a donation through CAADC’s Website at www.caadc.org or its direct PayPal account here (please note it is specifically for holiday support).

Join the Rose Tree Elementary community in giving back to those in need.
