There is a daytime road closure in Marple Township, and municipal police want to notify area residents so they may plan accordingly. Starting today, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Crum Creek Road will be closed between Winchester Road and Larraine Drive to all through traffic.
The closure will last through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. The reason for the closure, according to Marple Township Police Department, is the removal of several large, hazardous trees in the area.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but thank you for your patience and understanding,” wrote Chief of Police Brandon Graeff via the department’s CrimeWatch webpage.
During the closure times, travelers going westbound (from Sproul Road) on Crum Creek Road from Route 320, will be directed to Winchester Road, which will be open for detours. Access, however, to any homes west of Larraine Drive must be made from Old Marple Road to Crum Creek Road. Access will be available up to and including Lorraine.
“There will be a police officer on post at Crum Creek and Lorraine to assist motorists and respond to emergencies in the affected residential areas,” said Graeff. The posted police are to be placed west of the closure area, according to the department’s release.
No vehicles, during the closure hours, will be able to pass through the work zone. This will include emergency vehicles. The closure is expected to be removed by the weekend.
