“The more that you read,
the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
the more places you’ll go.”
-Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss
Books can transform a child’s imagination, taking them from the pages of a story, to a vast and wonderful world of fantasy, dreams, and realms beyond belief. But what if your child could be the star of their own reading wonder? An upcoming event with the Marple Library can make that happen.
Described as a “one-of-a-kind bookmaking event,” those ages 5 through 8 are invited to attend a unique children’s program this Saturday.
“Celebrate what makes you YOU!” said the library’s site. “After reading Just One You, children will create a one-of-a-kind book with a custom bookplate and bookmark to take home.”
The creation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m. The event is hosted by the library’s teen volunteers and will take place thanks to a special sponsorship by O’Donnell Roofing Co.
“Children should be able to write independently or attend with a grown-up who can help transcribe their words,” said the site.
The free program is first-come, first-served and has a 100 total person limit.
“We HIGHLY recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early as programs like this one fill up before their start times,” said the program’s post.
The library staff said it was thankful for the sponsorship and volunteers that made the day possible, according to the library’s Facebook post.
