You can be a part of the plans.
If you have thoughts to share about life in Newtown Township, local officials want to hear them.
The township is asking residents to take 15 to 20 minutes to complete a community survey, which will be used to shape its comprehensive and strategic plan.
A comprehensive plan is a tool used to create goals and a plan of action for the next 10-plus years in a community, and in Pennsylvania, it can be the basis for zoning and development ordinances A strategic plan creates a blueprint for the allocation of municipal resources, over a five-year period, in alignment with the comprehensive plan. It can guide municipal officials when creating annual budgets and municipal income generation and expenditures.
“Obtaining feedback from the community about the current conditions and future aspirations in the township is vital to the planning process,” the township said, which is why it is asking people to complete the survey.
Questions span a variety of topics, such as what type of businesses the township should seek to attract and what quality-of-life issues are important to residents (e.g., housing opportunities for young families, having a walkable community).
Responses will be confidential and will be compiled and analyzed as a group rather than identified by name. The survey, which is conducted by the township and Simone Collins Landscape Architecture, will be available until June 1. Results will be posted on the Newtown Township website.
