Mental health challenges, like many things in life, are harder to tackle alone.

Therefore, a local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is offering an eight-week educational course that “provides an opportunity for mutual support and growth” for adults living with mental health conditions.

Starting March 9, NAMI Main Line PA will offer the free peer-to-peer course from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. — either in-person in Upper Darby or on Zoom. While the course does not include recommendations for treatment approaches, it is taught by “trained leaders with lived experience” and includes activities, discussions and informative videos aimed at helping people learn more about their recovery in an accepting environment.

Participants can share their stories, strengthen relationships, enhance communication skills, develop confidence for making decisions, practice stress-reduction techniques, partner with health care providers, learn about mental health treatment options, and set goals for the future.

Those interested in taking the course are asked to contact Lisa Parker at [email protected] or 267-251-6240 for more information or to register.
